When Kristen Wood played the part of Biondello
in Shakespeare's Taming of the Shrew in 2002,
Seger decided to give her some stage business
to enliven her character.  Each time she came
on stage, she was to be eating an apple.  It
became her trademark, hence, her portrait, and
a small wedding present from the artist.
